So the long 4th of July weekend was great, even if Monkey is getting her two-year molars in. (Poor thing, she keeps shoving her hand in her mouth and saying "sore" "sore" over and over, then begging for an icee, aka a baby's teether that has been frozen).
On Friday the 4th, Monkey marched in her very first 4th of July parade. She even wore a red white and blue swimsuit - because she's patriotic like that (ok, that just happens to be the suit I got for her at Target). The parade rocked. As did the lemonade and watermelon handed out afterwards.
Being that this is New York City, the parage was led by a firetruck with its water cannon ready to soak everyone at the culmination of the parade. And, being that this is New York, halfway through the parage the firetruck got a call and drove away. Leaving the kids puzzled. And the adults, too, until word spread that the firemen (and women!) had left to oh, go save some lives.
The bummer was that we didn't get sprayed by the water cannon. I would have liked that.
Photos to come, I promise.
